This test consists of two tasks. It is suggested that candidates spend about 20 minutes on Task 1, which requires them to write at least 150 words, and 40 minutes on Task 2, which requires them to write at least 250 words. Task 2 contributes twice as much as Task 1 to the Writing score.

Более того, на эссе требуется написать минимум 250 слов, в сравнении с письмом, где минимальный объем — 150 слов.

Почему?
Эссе — более сложное задание, в котором вы должны раскрыть и показать умение комплексно рассуждать на различные темы, раскрывать идею для читателя, связывать и аргументировать свои мысли, структурировать информацию, строить комплексные предложения без грамматических и лексических ошибок и умение точно доносить идею.
Более того, на эссе требуется написать минимум 250 слов, в сравнении с письмом, где минимальный объем — 150 слов.
Каждое задание оценивается отдельно, но общая оценка формируется не как среднее арифметическое за два задания. Ваше эссе "весит" в два раза больше, чем ваше письмо. То есть, письмо принесет вам всего ⅓ от общей оценки, в то время как эссе — ⅔.
Давайте разберем пример:
Допустим вы набрали 8.0 за Task 1 (письмо) и 7.0 за Task 2 (эссе). Ваша итоговая оценка будет рассчитываться так: (8.0 + 7.0 + 7.0) / 3 = 7.3.
IELTS округляет значения к ближайшей "круглой" цифре (0.0 или 0.5), то есть в данном случае ваша оценка будет 7.5.
Это еще одна причина, почему стоит уделить больше внимания и времени именно на эссе.

- Task Response — здесь учитывается насколько полно, точно и правильно был дан ответ на заданную тему. Оцениваются идеи и последовательность информации в раскрытии темы.
- Coherence and Cohesion — ясность изложения мыслей, правильная структура, связность предложений и фраз между собой.
- Lexical resource — оценивается разнообразие словарного запаса и умение применять его в контексте.
- Grammatical range and accuracy — оценивается разнообразие, грамотность и точность грамматических конструкций.
